Just bought a Gateway monitor FHX2152L for my parents [and me ]. Previous monitor was the comfortable and huge 19" CRT. Loved it. It was sold. And I had a great past experience with a Gateway PC ten years ago; they were sold as hell. When I bought this FHX2152L monitor, I was dumbfounded how light it is compared to the 19" CRT. Anyway I am an experienced PC user; I can build. But this time, it's only recognized as Plug and Play Monitor in the Device Manager, and not as a Gateway anything. I updated the drivers for the video card NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS. Still no change. Gateway have fee-based help but I don't want to tangle with that.

I don't even want to entertain the notion of "buyer's remorse". So do I need to get a new video card? Update the OS? What gives? Please advise. Thank you!!!

Fixed it... Go to Device Manager... and click properties on the Plug and Play monitor.

Then update driver.. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"... Then funny thing I rarely use because most peripherals are plug-and-play... you select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." ... Then it's easy from then on.. Simply deal with the "digitally signed" etc etc. and it's recognized. Gateway could've made it easier! THANK YOU ALL.
