Mid-Level Graphics Card Recommendation

Forum Graphic & Displays : Graphics Cards Mid-Level Graphics Card Recommendation

I know a lot about systems, but would be grateful for graphics card recommendation. Mostly a performance vs. value proposition. Unlimited budget, but prefer <$160, best value.
Needs: Fast response, occasional gaming. Usages: youtube, piratebay videos, netflix, 2D photoshop/illustrator design work.

Currently very happy with home built system:
450 watts Raidmax power supply,
Win 7 64bit
Gigabit GA-880GA-UD3H Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 950 BE (not overclocked)
12 GB Ram
HD Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 64GB SATA III SSD (awesome upgrade!!)
HD WD10EACS-00C7B0 1TB
Asus VK278Q Black 27" 1920x1080 Monitor

for best value card and better performance for price an hd 6870 will be most better choice because it uses less power and performs very well in high resolution eg: 1080p like your monitor resolutionno need to go ahead of this because it can do all the things that u wont.most important thing that your psu is not that much good but it can handle hd 6870. buy sapphire for cheaper price better performance good quality.:)

A Radeon HD 6770 should do you fine for round 100 bucks? Don't need anything more powerful for video viewing?

GTX460 all the way, it will run on 450 watts, and you can grab them for 149 dollars, i own 2 of them, they are such good cards for gaming, you wont have any trouble gaming with them

Here on newegg 139 dollars http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814125412

The 6870 does perform a little better, but i think you might be hard pressed to find one under 160 dollars

hd 6870 vs hd 6850 vs gtx 460.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/for [...] udy-6.html

now u can see what to get for me the most great card value for money is hd 6870.hd 6850 will also performs good in higher resolution and uses less power then gtx 460 it has 256bit bus and gtx 460 have 192bit bus so i will say u that if u cannot afford that much so get an hd 6850 but hd 6870 will be the perfect choice and best performance for money.

There is no difference between 192bit and 256 bit that can be noticed

im not gonna lie, iv never worked with radeon cards, but that performance jump from to 460 to the 6870 for like 40 bucks more is sooo worth it!

its not so worthy an hd 6870 is the card that do better performance above the price and its on par with gtx 560 and an gtx 460 is also good but its on par with hd 6850 and an hd 6850 has the same price as the gtx 460 and the hd 6870 has the cheaper price then the gtx 560 so for mid ranged gpu for cheaper price and better performance is the hd 6870.

Wow, thanks for all the advise. Surprised to see such a consensus with the Radeon HD 6870. Looks like I will be ordering the SAPPHIRE 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870.
