Hello,
I just built my new computer and it has a HD6850, I originally hooked it up to my Dynex HDTV through the HDMI port and it worked fine. Then I updated windows through its basic control panel menu; but after that now it wont read my HD6850 except right at the boot and bios screen. It wont actually reach the login screen before losing the connection and displaying a box that says "60 secs. to power down" and the tv shuts off. what could be the problem? I dont have another display or monitor option btw.

disconnect hdmi, give the pc enough time to boot into windows, then plug in the display

I tried that and nothing, I thought maybe the card wasnt seated properly so I took it out and reinstalled it and still no dice. Im not sure at all what the problem could be. Any other ideas?

ok, well now it gets to "windows is starting" screen and shuts my TV off. Im very confused. could it have been something that a windows update did?

it could have messed with the drivers a little, can you plug in another monitor just to see if it boots right into windows, oh, before that, you can try safe mode

ok, I can give that a shot. and to avoid confusion, just the tv shuts off. not the whole system. thank you for the assistance as well!

Have you tried using safe mode or using system restore to before the updates were installed. Windows always creates a restore point before installing updates.
