If it is just a tv tuner(PCI/PCI-E or USB), You will have to use software and the computer to see if on the monitor. I use Windows Media Center.

 

There are some TV boxes out that can connect to the monitor as well.

 

If you are using a set top box fro your cable/satellite provider, you can connect it with HDMI or DVI(+ audio cable) with and adapter(you will need a set of speakers for sound unless your screen has some built in).

 

What TV tuner is it anyway? A link to the site it was purchased from would help.
