Which Radeon HD 6670 should I get for the price?

Hello! I'm planning on purchasing a new graphics card for my pc. I'm stuck on deciding which card I should get for the best price. My budget range is around $ 75~100.

And would these cards work with a 250 watt psu?

The current card that I am using is a crappy Nvidia Geforce 210 and my monitor resolution is 1680x1050 if that helps.

What is your brand name of your PSU? Both cards are good the first one has a better cooler on it the XFX is a single slot GPU. That one would be used if you didn't have enough room on your expanston slots. Here is a link to help calculate what size PSU you need. The first one simple and the second one more complexed.

That PSU sorry to say is not a good one. But that is not the problem even if it were good then it still would not be enough. According to AMD the min requirments for that card is 400w PSU. Here is a link showing the stats.

Here is a 500w PSU It is a good brand name along with Antec, Seasonic, and Corsair. If you want a 400w then when you are on the web site at top where is says product of numger just type 440w and hit serch. I should bring up all the 400w PSU's

Your new card takes a good 4-5 times the power of the current one. I have used the same power supply with light cards(think 4350, and you dont want to game on that).

I would put you very close for that unit. It only delivers about 170 watts of 12 volt power.

Your card of choice will take off about 40(games only 10 at idle) of that and up to 60 at high load.

The cpu is rated at 65 watts. While I bet it takes less(and much less at idle). You see what is happening right? we are getting upwards to the end of what that power supply will deliver.

I run some pretty close limits systems(or some would say), but even i would be a bit worried about it.

The big issue here is that the power supply is question does not deliver much 12 volt power(about 170 watts). With even 200, it would generally be in range of being safe for your system.

AMD's recommendation of a 400 watt power supply honestly assumes a real bad power supply and fully loaded system.

2 sticks of ddr3 @ 1.65 volts
AMD 5770 (needs a 450 watt power supply)
SlimDVD

All off a little 300 watt power supply(22 Amps or 264 watts of 12 volt) and never even push 200 watts from the wall. Games average 140-170. I built this system around the power supply limit not the other way around.

But i have a hard time recommending you do this because, your system may just be too much for that power supply.

Bottom line. Even I think a new power supply is in order. A good quality 300(like something from seasonic) will run the system without working too hard, but you should go a bit higher for longer lasting system/power supply.

Remember, the 12 volt rail(s) are the most important thing in a modern power supply and you can not just add all together when there is more then one. There is generally a listed max combined.

I am not always a fan of powercolor and a review states highish ripple(yet still within the specs) on the 12 and 5 volt lines, but I doubt you will push too much past half load on the thing anyway(based on my own systems).

The 1 year warranted is not that impressive, but should have no problems with powering your current system with the new card. Not going to call it top end, but should work.

That list seems to get better. I remember when it started that has some units on a different tier then the actual makers unit. This was when they happened to be the SAME thing. There was a lot of brand only labeling back then too.

What nuke is stating is that it is more than a match he means it is to good. Yes to your answer the 550 is very nice one probley more than what you need. Thing is unless you plan on upgrading your CPU later down the line so you can up grade to a even better GPU then get it.

What I mean by upgrading your CPU is it is a dual core and after you get to a certen point with the GPU's than it will start ot bottleneck in which case it will loose power on the GPU. But eveything is up to you.

@nuke Ya that list is quite a few years ago. I got it from somebody who has the same start date you have 1970. I was 10 then. I know you didn't start then because computers then took up a huge room. Just funny.

I'll also consider upgrading my ram to 4gb along with a new graphics card. And since i'm planning on getting a new psu mind as well get a higher grade graphics card.

Corsair makes good stuff(Ok they have others make good stuff for them in this case)

Looks like Tiger has dropped shipping rates quite a bit. 8.17 for basic shipping(at least to my location). I remember a 30 dollar item with like 40 dollar shipping(so i waited for a sale...)....no clue why.
