so i currently run a gigabyte 5570 with some OC core speed at 720hz from stock...
and im wondering about a nice upgrade since i want to go to a 22-24" monitor from current 19"
so heres the deal on primary uses> i do game but its mostly RTS games or browser stuff i dont play anything insane on the pc as i console game as well. however i do like watching alot of videos and i use some high end apps on occasion like CS4 ect....
budget> sub 200 would be nice think 6870s ect...
system setup....
gigabyte UD5 fx890 full atx mobo.
AMD phenom II 1090T black edition 6 core OCed to 4.1ghz
cooler master hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler.
8 gigs Kingston hyper X DDR3 1833. no OC.
gigabyte 5570 1 gig DDR3 GPU.
OCZ agility 2 30 gig SSD for OS. >windows 7 home premium.
seagate 1T 7200RPM HDD sata 3.
800 watt module power supply>forget brand.
all this sits in a mid tower antec 900.
A HD6870 will be overkill for most RTS games assuming your new monitors res will be 1920 x 1080, although it'll allow you to comfortably play future games for awhile.

OK well lets keep it simple then.
GDDR 5 gives you more bandwidth than the same amount of GDDR3. This means its better
The 6870 is a pretty good card, and may fall into your budget depending on if it is 200 Dollars, pounds, peanuts, small children?
as was asked earlier.
