Hello,
Does anyone know a simple way of getting rid of the pesky bear? Have tried many different methods. The whole site has gone but the bear keeps popping up as my search engine sporadically

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Go to http://www.trendmicro.com and download HijackThis. Install it and click to Scan and save a log then copy and post that log back here. Someone will be able to advise which items to remove to clean your system up properly but don't tick anything until you've posted back and had some advice.,

Warning to others: If the log contains any live links, it's best not to click on them.

In fairness I suppose I should add that I didn't intend to imply that Bearshare in itself is worthy of the HJT treatment - just the things you might get from other users when using it.
