No, those are usable for Desktops. You just need a mounting bracket as Arr said. The Intel 520 60GB is about $150 not worth it when you have SSD's of similar price that have 120GB and offer practically the same real world performance.
Also, I wouldn't recommend forking out the cash for a 1 TB right now unless you really, really, really want to fill it quick. Prices are very high right now. If you could survive the next year or so on a 500GB or so and then add another later, that would be ideal. If you have the cash and want to spend it or really want the 1 TB ASAP then ignore what I'm saying.
The best price oriented 1TB HDD would have to be...
Seagate 1TB Barracuda
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148840 Not the best HDD but pretty good for the price solid performance can't go wrong.
As for the SSD, go with the Sandisk I recommended then.
120 GB minimum for $150. You can get a drive on Tiger Direct or Newegg. Corsair Force 3, Corsair Force GT, OCZ Vertex 3, and many more can be found for $150 if you look but make sure you get 120+ GB.
^ Not true, if it's priced right. THG had an article of SATA 2 vs SATA 3 in real world performance, they said unless you're a freak for permanence you don't need SATA 3. In fact that the difference between SATA 2 and SATA 3 is hardly noticeable in real world situations. Course in benchmarks you show but who cares? It's not like you're about to brag that you have an SSD.
As for Jacko, that source is incorrect, the Vertex 2 120GB is $136 only after rebates, it's actually $155.

at steady state performance most wont see a difference so it is up to the user. buy an ssd you can afford.
I also have a question about SSD's. I kinda just want to spoil myself to be honest.
I'm running my OS off a 2TB 5400rpm drive.. and its doing me just fine.
Some programs like Pro Tools and Premier could load faster, and booting windows takes a while compared to my old Dell w/ a 7200rpm. (i learned my lesson) haha
But the m4 seems to have really great customer reviews, but i see the Vertex 3 is recommended almost everywhere.
Which one would you guys suggest for a boot drive?
I also play Battlefield 3 if that makes a difference. It take a while to load too.
M4. The Vertex 3 is too unstable currrently, not in the sense that it'll be hard to install and run fine. But that SF-22xx controllers have a short life span for some reason. They aren't very reliable I should say in terms of a good one or a bad one. It's hit and miss.
also, will 60 gb be enough? i wanna use it mostly for a boot drive and pro tools, adobe suite, and maybe a few games. should i go for the 128gb? its 70 more bucks on newegg i believe.
i've read that a raid 0 will help speed up rendering. but if a drive fails i'd be screwed,
how does rendering on a SSD sound?
Well, not for Pro Tools + CS5 + Games, maybe OS and a few games or CS5 but not all that. Go with the 128gB.
No do not go RAID 0, my personal opinion and yes you are screwed because it splits the file in 2 basically, one half on one and the other on the other. I suggest just sticking with one, a single SSD is good enough.
