Hi, I've just built a new PC and I can't connect to the internet. I have installed the motherboard drivers and I don;t know what's wrong.

Specs:
Gigabyte G1.SNIPER2 motherboard
Intel I5-2500k
XFX 7970

What WIFI card do you have?
Your Motherboard has a gaming NIC, but it is NOT WIFI capable without some kind of WIFI card(which would make your built in NIC useless

I have broadband. Are you saying I need to buy a nic?

No, your motherboard has a built in NIC(network Interface card). What you DON'T have is any kind of wireless transmitter.
something like this:

Of course, if you use it, then you would NOT be using the built-in NIC that comes on your motherboard.

Im saying you need to see if the wifi is the problem by connecting with a cable

Then why is there a nic on the mono in the first place?

:ange: So you can use a network cable & connect to your router.

Just because you have a built in NIC (most motherboards do, yours just happens to have a gaming one) doesn't mean that it will attach WIRELESSLY. :non:

Unless you are already using both of your PCI slots, then it should work. :)

Be aware that you spent extra to have the Killer NIC built in to that motherboard, and by going wireless, you are, in effect disabling it. Wireless will always be a slower connection than a wired one. :(

Not that there was any real performance gain in using the built-in NIC over any other NIC.

I don't have a wired connection :(

Anyway I don't really care about speed, as long as I get 15Down/2Up I'm fine

Yes, that will do it.

If you don't have any spare slots, buy a N rated usb wifi adapter.

I always use these as I need expansion slots in my desktops. I got a belkin one from Tesco for about £15 which works well.
