HDD is way too small, for just 15$ more you can have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148767

Since you game, you'd be waaaay better of with this GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127565 and this CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115078

Everything else seems fine.

Is there any chance you have a microcenter near where you live? They sell the i5 2500k for $180

Reply to hafronix

Nope there are no Microcenters where I live.

CPU: i5 2500 ($209.99)

RAM: Gskil Ripjaws X (8gb) ($39.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 38566&SID=

PSU: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 80 plus (~$60)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 38566&SID=

Case: Same one ($49.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 38566&SID=

Mobo: MSI P67A-G43 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ($94.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 38566&SID=

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200 RPM ($84.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 38566&SID=

GPU: ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) ($179.99)

Optical Drive: Same one ($18.99)

Something I together real quick. It's 798.92 before rebates and PSU promo code and approximately 738 after rebates and PSU promo code.

I think its a decent build. I just threw it together really quick. Hopefully at least you can take something from it or other people can suggest some better options from it and such.

get the 2400 and use the saved money to get a 6870

Reply to samdsox

EDIT: I added the prices to each item after rebates.

Another viable GPU (IMO) would be this one for a couple of bucks more

Reply to hafronix

samdsox is also right you could also get a 6870.

like this MSI one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127545

you may not even have to drop down to a i5 2400

If you want a gaming build, trust me, you'll be way better off with an i3 and a gtx 560 ti. I3 is a dual core beast, meets and beats non-overclocked quad core phenoms. Gtx 560 ti is a very fast gpu, capable of maxing many modern games ( without full anti-aliasing ).

Reply to 4eyed

one more question how much of difference is there between the gtx 560 and the gtx 560 ti.

Reply to lolorne

There is a significant amount of difference between the i5 2400 and i3 2100

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/363?vs=289

The 560 is pretty much the equivalent of Nvidia to the Radeon 6870 maybe slightly better here and there. The 560 ti is faster and near the equivalent of the Radeon 6950.

In my opinion I would stick to four cores for future proofing, but thats just me

Reply to hafronix

so if I were to go with the i5 2400 which gpu should I get.

If you can afford it I would stick to the 6870
