Advice on Professional Video Editing Hardware, JAN 2012

Hey all wonderful experts,

I'm looking for some advice to build a computer suitable for professional video editing.
The issues that makes me particularly dizzy are combining...
- Video Cards (e.g Geforce, BlackMagic, etc)
...into something that don't stumbles into any face-palm bottle-necks.

Approximate Purchase Date:
- Ready to buy

Budget Range:
The budget for the whole computer, including a decent case + PSU is about...
- ~2200 USD
- ~1400 GBP
- ~15000 SEK
(As time saved is money earned, I'm very flexible here... But don't wish to be foolish nor cheap)

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
- Video editing
- Encoding
- Game recording(Read Gaming)

Parts Not Required:
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Monitor
- Speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (e.g.:, -- to show us selection & pricing)
Doesn't really matter, if it's good I will get it from wherever I can. Though my normal "go-to" sites are:

- Sweden

Parts Preferences:
- Preferably not ATI/AMD, as I have never had a good experience with them.

- Probably

SLI or Crossfire:
- Perhaps SLI...
Seems it wouldn't do much though, except for getting FPS up for the recording-part.

Monitor Resolution:
- 1920x1080

Additional Comments:
- MOBO should support RAID 0
- MOBO should have at least 6 SATA connectors (1 system SSD, 4 RAID0 HDD, 1 Bluray writer)

  1. For what you are working you need 3930k CPU , X79 socket 2011 mobo , 32 GB RAM , an Nvidia video card with minimum 2GB memory ( more memory is better ).
    This is my build :
    MOBO : ASRock X79 Extreme6 LGA 2011 Intel X79
    CPU: I7 3930K
    RAM : G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
    GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) HD 2560MB 320-bit GDDR5
    HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
    SSD : Crucial M4 2.5" 128GB SATA III
PSU : SeaSonic X Series X-850 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular
    CASE : Antec P280 Black
    DVD-RW : ASUS 24X DVD Burner
    OS : Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
    TOTAL : 2289$
In my opinion this is a build made for professional video editing.
