Hi, I have an older computer and widescreen monitor that I want to use as a tv in my 2 year old son's room.

Rather than buy a tv, I figured I had all the pieces just laying around to get it set up aside from the ability to go from the cable outlet to the pc so I've been searching for a tv tuner card. There are a lot out there but when it comes to my specific situation, I need a low profile card. The computer is an optiplex 755.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hope that's not too much info. I'm looking for a card that I can use to go from the standard comcast DTA to the computer. Don't really need hd in his room, he's 2 :P

I have an Optiplex 745 and I went with a ATI Theater Pro 550 PCI card low profile card
for $20 with shipping
I use it with a Comcast Digital Adapter and use Cyberlink Power Director for viewing/recording
with that said I would go with a Hauppage model WinTV model
since getting software for the ATI was difficult
this is on Newegg

I have also used Hauppage WinTV USB and pci cards
and the WinTV 2000 software that is included is easy to use and works well

alot of those cards are PCIe express x 1
so make sure what slots you have available
depends on the form factor of the 755
for example the Mini Tower will have more slots than the SFF or Slim Desktop

if you can give me the model of the 755 (MiniTower,Desktop or SFF)
I can look it up
also if you can give me preferred shopping sites (ie Newegg,Ebay)

that is one of the ones I was looking at and it is PCIe
need to know what 755 the OP has
it is a good choice if the OP has a PCIe x 1 slot available
also it is going on US Ebay for 30 with shipping
but that is without remote
but usually use the remoter with the Comcast cable box anyway
and can download latest software from Hauppage support

I have the optiplex 755 desktop version.

Without having it in front of me it open in front of me, this is what dell says it comes with:

Slots
2 low-profile PCI
-(H: 2.5" X L: 6.6" )
1 low-profile PCIe x16 graphics
-(H: 2.5" X L: 6.6" )

I currently have an Gigabyte Radeon HD 4350 512MB video card in the PCIe x16 slot so I'm most likely going to need a pci card.

I recommend either a Hauppage PCI card
or going with a Hauppage USB TV tuner
leaves you pci slot free
I use one with a Opti 740
