Finally made it to Veteran level. Woo :]
Hehe thank you :].
Kudos!

I'm classified as an Addict now. Not sure how I should feel about that...
I liked the old naming schemes better. Veteran and below on the new system are ok, but I never liked addict (and I never liked what a wide range it covers, most all of the regular posters are vets or addicts). It also seems to me giving me the rank of addict *discourages* me for posting (as I've done too much already), which seems counter the goal of the forum. Oh well, enough of my ramblings.

I believe that when the new platform is rolled out there will be a new ranking system, i.e. different names and a slightly different point scale. Stay tuned...
That would be nice. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Really? First I've heard of it. Any timelines?
This year would be a safe estimate, H1 would be fairly reasonable as well. Can't exactly narrow it down any more because I don't know where development is up to.

Well that figures since I'm a day or two away from "Expert"
At least maybe I won't have to wait years to reach the next level of "Master".

Your tag shows as "Community Reporter" anyway ;].
Or they'll just reset your points

Here are the new ranks that are being considered once the new platform comes out:
1.1. Newcomer: 0-149
1.2. Trainee: 150-499
1.3. Apprentice: 500-1,499
1.4. Regular: 1500-4,999
1.5. Enthusiast: 5000-9,999
1.6. Veteran: 10000-14,999
1.7. Expert: 15000-29,999
1.8 Professional 30,000-59,999
1.8. Sage: 60,000-119,999
1.9 Master: 120,000-199,999
2.0 Grandmaster: 200,000-499,999
2.1 Technomage: 500,000-999,999
Well, you've got my vote
No Addict and 12 levels vs. 8.

I would maybe flip flop Professional and Expert... I think of an Expert being greater than a Professional (but could just be me??
)
Well, maybe the professionals get a portion of the Advert profits?
As one definition is :
"A professional is a person that is paid for what they do. Qualifications have little to do with being a professional as the world's "oldest profession" is strictly a monetary gain career. An amateur maybe more qualified than a professional but they are not paid, thus they are an amateur."

I like it.
Sorry to have posted this after 3 months..
But, can anyone tell me, what the ranking systems were before ?
By "before", are you referring to the one used before the current one (if any)? The new ranks buwish referred to above have not been implemented yet.
^ this
Yes, before the current ranking levels.
Newcomer
Youngster
Apprentice
Regular - Hey, that's me !
Veteran - going to be one in a few days
Addict
Expert
Master
I know Toms's new platform is going to be implemented as Buwish had already said it in a thread of mine.

Can't say, I haven't been a member long enough. Anyone else?
Me too
Maybe it was before the 2007's or before. Maybe the mods can help out.
Before before there were twice as many ranks, and most of the upper range were impractical to reach. The highest rank required 100k posts.
Oh boy, it's been so many years since I've been here...
I have a question
When I clicked on the 'More Information' in chuck232's profile, I saw that he has about 3443 posts and 789 points. Why so ?
oin
chuck232 was hit with the being a member before the rankings changed. When they did the mass switch from post to points, the current users got like 0.6 points for each of their post, in effort to keep it balanced at the start (well so they say). This is why you see the long term vets (per 2009) have a very low point to post ratio compared to others.

To be somewhat fair, maybe they can be awarded some 4.3pts/post ratio (or less) for posts that didn't count, if traceable. Since the rules of the game have changed in the middle of the game.
Would not hurt anything
