I was wondering why they chose the current rank progression over Fredi's original.

 

A portion of his was:

 

1,500-4,999 Tom's Regular
5,000-14,999 Tom's Addict
15,000-49,999 Tom's Veteran

 

Versus our Current where Veteran and Addict are switched.

 

Personally I think Veteran makes more sense as a higher rank and more importantly has a positive connotation (in my mind) and implies some knowledge or skill . Addict on the other hand does not really imply any skill and has a negative connotation (in my opinion).

I could not agree more. Labeling veteran forum members as 'addicts' is one giant cough for mankind. Please do not use the term "versus" when asking the French a question. Their surrender is imminent.

This earlier Ranking system was much, much better. The current ranking system >veteran>addict is purely stupid. I should be an Honary veteran of Tom's hardware nearing Honary Fixture of Tom's. Hard to believe some of the current weenies on here rival that with their 'points'. The veterans were ripped of for time spent when the current Tom's ownership awarded like .25 points for earlier posts. Post that accumilated since the late 90's were give .25 credit towards total points. The current owners are spineless 'tards. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I also prefer having a ton of ranks (so that everyone who posts regularly isn't a veteran or addict). I guess they thought that was too "complex". However, if we have to have only a few ranks, I want ranks that make sense.

Yeah, my slave shows two instances of a 1kb word document with those rankings. When I open them my IED goes on the blink. Intermittent Explosive Disorder.
