Can I use ATX&ESP or just ATX psu?

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Can I use ATX&ESP or just ATX psu?

My mobo support ATX12V 2.0 or later. No mention about ESP.

Looking at BestBuy.com prices:

Antec - EarthWatts EA-380D ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply - $47.23
Antec - EarthWatts EA-430D ATX12V Power Supply - $61.49

Corsair - Builder CX430 ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply - $47.50
Corsair - Builder Series 430-Watt ATX12V CPU Power Supply - $49.99

Corsair - Builder CX500 ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply - $57.24
Corsair - Builder Series 500-Watt ATX12V CPU Power Supply - $63.99

As you see, some cost less and some cost more.

Is it possible to use a psu with ATX12V&ESP12V?

Yes...maybe, the difference between ATX12V and EPS is the power connector that plugs into the the motherboard. EPS (8-pin connector) is designed to provide cleaner more stable power to the motherboard/CPU than is provided by the ATX 12V standard (4-pin connector). Most modern, good quality PSUs are compatible with both ATX 12V and EPS...they either have both cords on the PSU or have two 4-pin connectors that combine to make an 8-pin EPS connector.

Before you buy your PSU you need to verify whether your mobo takes EPS or ATX 12V and verify that the PSU you want is compatible with that standard.

The manual for the motherboard say:

Quote :

ATX power connectors (24-pin EATXPWR, 4-pin ATX12V)

1x 24-pin EATX power connector
1x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector

Yes
The power supplies you mention all use a 4+4 ATX/EPS connector
