I have selected a motherboard to buy for a gaming computer I'm currently building, and have recently been checking compatibility between all the components I have selected however recently when I was checking the list of compatible processors I did not see the processor I would like to buy on the list .
Any help would be appreciated , and also is the processor I have chosen suitable for gaming ? , from the list I was looking at it seemed to have the best value .
It's FX 6100 is fully compatible with the Asus M5A78L-M.
And the FX 6100 is actuily on the CPU support list for that motherboard.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A78LM_LX/#CPUS It's just a long list and there is a window slider over on the right side to scroll down to where the FX 6100 is listed.

Thanks for help , just wanted a confirmation before I went ahead buying everything
What list where you looking at? Just the CPUs for that specific motherboard?
It's actually a decent choice for gaming - but there are other choices close in price that would be a slightly better option.
And that motherboard is limiting you to 95W TPD CPUs instead of the more powerful 125W TPD CPU models.
Is that a large problem ? or should I just stick with the current board , I mean will it significantly increase performance if I go up to 125w tbd models ? I'm quite tight on money for my build

I think the GTX 550ti is just a bit light for 1920x1080 gaming - for most gamers.
What games will you by playing - and do you expect to run on the highest possible graphics settings?
Or are you a more relaxed, casual gamer?
