Hi

Took my laptop apart to replace power port. Reassembled and turned on.
Laptop starts and power port doesnt appear to be a prob anymore. But the Packard Bell screen comes on and then it immediately shuts down.

Im guessing ive missed something when reassembling. Can anyone here give me an idea where to start ?

It shuts down straight away before the bios gets to work i think. Maybe when its checking the first components ? Shuts straight off.

Any help appreciated.

More info -

Original symptom was power light going on and off if power jack touched resulting in shut down.
Hence the power jack replacement.

Ive worked out why its now shutting down on Post screen - The battery has always failed to hold any charge. Ive removed it and laptop wont power at all !

So whats obviously happening now is laptop is trying to power up on a dead battery so doesnt get more than a few seconds into start up.

But why wont it work on mains power ???
The jack is obviously installed correctly because when the battery is installed the battery light comes on the on front of laptop, but not the mains power light.
