I want to use a pre-existing 775 socket heatsink for my Q6600 for an 1155 motherboard. Can I easily mod it/make things work, or must I use something like this bracket?

Here is my current 775 heatsink. Btw, how much should I sell an old Asus P5k Pro motherboard? It's 3 years and 7 months old. Will anyone buy it on Ebay?

As far as I can tell it's not going to be compatible. I looked at the manufactures website and they say nothing about the newer sockets. I would just get something like a Hyper 212, Hyper 212 + or Noctua

Thanks. I had the 212 in mind in case it wouldn't work.

Any of the ASRock motherboards with the (C.C.O.) Comb Cooler Option feature have Socket 775 mounting holes.
