Will this power supply work with sandy bridges and new motherboards?

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Will this power supply work with sandy bridges and new motherboards?

I have a old 460W PSU that still works well from my alienware. It's like the one linked below but it only has a 4 pin connector. If I find a motherboard that uses a 4 pin connector will it work?

That psu has both 4 and 8pin 12V cpu power.
1 x Main connector (20+4 pin)
1 x 12V (P4)
1 x 12V (8 pin)
7 x peripheral
2 x SATA
2 x Floppy
Doesn't look to have any PCI-E 6 pins though.
Which can be a problem if you want to add a gpu.
Yucky mobo dude!
Choose one from Asus,ASrock,Gigabyte,or MSI.
Just an example.

Yeah I know but I couldn't find the exact model for my PSU but that link was the closest model to it that google would search for. I do plan to add a gpu, most likely a radeon 6850. Right now my computer is running a radeon 9550 if that gives you an idea how old my computer is.

Enermax is a good maker of power supplies.
The Gigabyte board i linked as a suggestion actually has a 4pin cpu header.
Wouldn't be my first choice if i were selecting a K cpu,but would be fine for a non K cpu.
You could always add a PCI-E 6 pin molex adapter to that psu for use with a gpu like the 6850 which only requires one 6pin.

yeah the psu is still running pretty well after 6 years. I will be getting a non K processor as well, probably the i3-2100 or i5-2400. The surprising thing is, I think my psu does have a 6 pin connector. It's unused and the plug-in is black.
