What does not having native USB/SATA 3 support mean?

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs What does not having native USB/SATA 3 support mean?

Supposedly the 2600k doesn't have native USB 3 support...
but if my mother board has USB 3 ports... won't they work?
Then what is this native support they speak of?

USB and SATA support come by way of the chipset, not the processor, as you said.

No native support simply means that the motherboard relies on a separate chip to support the operation of these devices and not the main chipset itself.
