Hi All,

I need to buy a new UPS for my below Rig.

Phenom II X4 840 @ @ 3.5 GHz
Gigabyte GA MA 78GM S2H Mother Board
4GB DDR2
500 GB WD * 1
500GB Seagate *1
DVD Writer
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-E Sound card
AMD Radeon HD 5770 1GB
Corsair CX500V2 PSU
19" Samsung LCD
Creative Inspire T6060 5.1 Speakers
Roccat Kave Headphones (USB Power Required)
120mm Fan * 2 - for the CPU cooler


Please suggest the required VA rating and a good UPS for my config.

You're talking about a 3k budget, but that's pretty useless since we don't know the currency...

Anyhow, I'd look at a UPS in the 1000VA~1200VA range. Should last long enough with the PC and router plugged in to allow you to finish the game you're playing should the power go out, with safety time and everything in there as well.

you can always go the cheap route.


on a few ups. you can swap out the battery for a car battery

id recomend a sealed battery and preferable a deepcycle battery


make sure to put it in a container that could take the acid if it leads, a good idea would be to tie,glue or secure in someway that it cant be knocked over.


that will give you a good long time on the cheap.



as long as you get a good unit that has a good transformer that can up the voltage to either 110/230 depending on where you live

Hi, somthing like an APC 1500 should be fine, roughly about £350 to buy new. Would give you enough time to finish up what you are doing and power off.
