Hi guys, just out of curiosity and I'm a complete noob when it comes to knowing anything about computers (but I'm learning) but what is the better CPU for gaming? Can you also give me reasons to why one is better than the other. Thank you.
Can you find a server motherboard that's excellent for gaming? If not, then the i7 3960X is the best solution (very few people would spend that much money for a gaming PC).
Would be wise to spend money on other thing than buy either of those cpus for gaming.
Niether will offer anything more than the 2500k for the price premium that they cost. CPU performance in gaming caps at the 2500k so spend your money on other things like better gpu, monitors or maybe donating it to the poor.

It's pretty funny how most of you didn't really read the question right. I didn't say that I was buying these CPUs. I don't care about how much money it costs. All I wanted to know was what was the best CPU out of those 2 for gaming and why.

if you read all the replies, you would now know which cpu is best for gaming.

I just love the X79 platform, full of features yet to be supported, at least for once Intel actually give you a chipset with all the bells and whistles, sadly for a stupid permium to.
I think someone already said this but a 2500K/Z68 build with a solid GPU will more than solve you dilema and will save you a few pound sterling.
