Forum CPU & Components : CPUs Can a rev 1.03 CPU work in a rev 1.01 mobo?

I bought a AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor HDX925WFK4DGM - OEM and have an Asus M3A78-EM motherboard with rev 1.01G. The cpu is on the support list, but requires PCB rev 1.03G. Is it possible to run it? What would the consequences be? Thanks!

Just run the firmware update either while the system is running or load it onto a bootable flash drive, which is a little safer but less efficient.

So that's all, and it should work?

The only difference between the 2 revisions of the 925 deneb is that the C2 version works with all PCB revs while the C3 (which I have) has worked "since 1.03G"

Don't bump posts. Delete it before the moderator sees it. I never had any trouble updating mobo firmware while my system was running.
