My two options right now are to buy a freaking expensive replacement psu from dell .....or
i could make a pin out, and a 'how to guide' with all the information and specs
so hopefully someone out here needs help with this i see it all the time not i'm the victim
so here's a list i like them.
1. pay $300 for a factory replacement .......<baddddd
2. Dive right into it keeping photos and blogs about my adventure in rewiring a standard psu to make my damn alienware live again ....btw bastard at fryes that told me'the PSU installs in seconds. they are all the same.......had no idea how fuckie alienware is with their equipment
That would be easier but I see so many ppl screwed by dell over this I would like to help them so dell doesn't get the repair money or parts money. The easiest thing is to get the stripped ps from ebay for $98, return my corsair hx1050 and buy a ssd
No real need to list model alienwa re forums have several threads with ppl and same problem. What I have seen is ppl using aftermarket boosters that sit in the drive bay
http://i.imgur.com/WBQwz.jpg. bad angle sorry but there u go 60 holes 58 of them used if I can unbrick it im going to test each one and make my own adapter
So is it psu to 60 pin adaptor, 60 pin adaptor to molex/24pins etc.
or is this just a modular PSU?
in either case all of the devices have standard connections, so replace the PSU and replace all of the wiring.
Its not stil under warranty is it? - stupid question I know
No warranty the other half of molex has standard and non standard connections going to my vent flap lights and fan controls as well as a 6 hd tray on the otherside of the case and the mobo blah blah blah
have a look through every fully modular psu that you can find on any website and see in any match, it'd have to be cheaper for dell to buy an existing one and rebadge it .
Problem is all the custom connections are not optional controls case fans my hd tray and my motorized vent flaps. So i can't re cable yes rather I'd have to just go for new case
