I seem to remember an article a while back, about a code from Intel that would unlock the i7-2600 through the bios. Essentially making it a K model processor. I just bought a pre assembled system:
Processor - Intel® Core™ i7-2600 (8M Cache, 3.40 GHz)
O/S - Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit
Motherboard - Intel® Desktop Board DH67CL Motherboard
Memory - 8GB DDR3 - 1600MHz Corsair® High Performance Vengeance Memory
Hard Drive - 120GB Corsair SSD + 1.0TB Hard Drive
Graphics - Radeon HD6770 - 1GB
Audio - Intel® HD Audio onboard, 2.1 Desktop Speakers
Disk Drive - LG® 24x DVD+/-R/RW Internal Drive
Card Reader - Multi-In-One card reader
Case - Gaming Case + 600 Watt Corsair Builder Series CX V2 PSU

So my question is, does this option actually exist or did I misread or completely fabricate this article in some drunken haze lol? I am having no luck finding any information on the matter, nor the article itself. So I turn to you, knowledgeable Tom's Hardware community, please help. :D

Thats not right at all, the 2600 is already unlocked to 4 cores, and has locked multipliers so cannot be overclocked. I know that the 3820 will be partially locked.
