Hello,
I have an Iomega external hard drive and have had it for almost 2years, it was working fine etc... Until 1 night i turned my laptop on and it does not recognise the hard drive. then tryed rebooting and had to look more into my computer to try find a solution, and i thought i had found it but opened my computer to view all drives etc.. and it says in order to open it i have to re-format which i do not want to do as i have alot of pictures of my kids etc... Please help

Try it on ANOTHER pc or laptop....if it does the same its data recovery time or drop in the bin time...:(

There is still hope. Try it out on another rig, yes, but if it still doesn't work. Open it up carefully and remove the HDD that is inside it.
Then connect it directly to the rig using what ever sort of connector the HDD has on it.
If you have a problem, you can also buy another external closure that matches the HDD inside and try the disc in it.
You could have just blown a component in the Iomega HDD enclosure.... as long as the HDD isn't making a racket or clicking away to glory, you can give it a try.

go to pirisoft's website (the one that makes ccleaner)


they have a tool called recuva. that may help you recover files
