got a Biostar N68S3 Ver. 6.x

trying to install a AMD Phenom ii x4 9100e
hd91000bj4bgd

on cpu support page of MB states
AMD Phenom™ II X4 910e HD910EOCK4DGM

is supported, but it doesnt fit....

should it be compatible?

hi, just will not fit into socket, should it be compatible with that motherboard??

think i've looked at the support page wrong, and got wrong CPU damn it lol

any ideas on a compatible MB for the 9100e / HD9100OBJ4BGD 940-pin

looking at the links you just put,

both chips say AM2+ and think the MB is AM3 only GRRRRRRRR

Socket AM2 and AM2+ boards both have 940 pin sockets.

N68S3 Ver. 6.x is Socket AM3 accepts 938 pins.

You can put a 938pin CPU (AM3) into an AM2/AM2+ board.
But you can't put a 940pin CPU (AM2/AMD2+) into a 938pin MB (AM3)

lol i picked the 9100e up off flea bay....

was just hoping to boost this rig up from a Sempron 140......
should have checked the part numbers better damn

are there any good AMD2+ MB that support ddr3 1333 sdram you know of?

forget that,
DDR3 memory is only supported by installing AM3 cpu.

damn it grrrrrrrrrr

only got ddr3 sticks, cant be bothered changing the whole lot, think i will be selling it

Yeah, that AM2/DDR2 ... AM3/DDR3 issue complicates things.

Sell the 9100e. I'd do the same in your position.

is this the same as AMD Phenom™ II X4 x955 HDX955WFK4DGM but retail boxed version???

oh damn its a 125w version board only goes up to 95W found that out on the 965BE i got ages ago,

why are any of the 95w cpu's for this board so hard to find???

Are you sure you want to jump up to the 125W TPD CPUs?

HDX955WFK4DGM is a 95watt TDP version of 955. (from CPU support list)

125W TDP version: HDZ955FBK4DGM is an OEM/tray microprocessor & HDZ955FBGMBOX is a boxed microprocessor

the one i'm trying to upgrade lol, is for my partner, she's starting uni in march, studying nursing, doesnt need mega power but thought i'd upgrade from the Sempron 140, not wanting to hit the 125w on this rig tho,

i cant seem to find ANY of the decent supported cpu's as there all mostly 125w not 95w like i need.... grrrr

looked on ebuyer, flea-bay, few others need a uk stockest if possible, or can you recommend what other cpu to go for from the supported list
