[Solved] Configuring gigabit network adapter

I installed an Intel Gigabit CT PCIe desktop network adapter in an HP Pavilion that came with an on-board 10/100 Mbps Realtek adapter. The Intel card otherwise works fine but I'm so far unable to get the adapter to connect at the 1 gigabit speed. It's connected to a Linksys WRT610N gigabit router and, with the gigabit card, should connect at the higher speed. I installed the latest driver from Intel and tried manually setting the link speed at 1 Gbps instead of using the auto negotiation setting. If I do this, the adapter shows as disconnected. I don't think this should make any difference but I haven't disabled the original adapter, which is is still active but not connected. I have another computer with a gigabit connection to the same router that works at 1Gbps.
