Realtek Network Controller was not found

Forum CPU & Components : NICs Realtek Network Controller was not found

Word :    Username :

I just reinstalled Windows and now I can't get any internet connection. Normally Windows 7 detects the NIC and I just have to install the driver from the motherboard CD, but now it's like the whole thing have disappeared. When I try to install the driver an error comes up saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep SLeep Mode is enabled Please plug the cable".
In the Device Manager there aren't any Network Adapters available, but if I choose click "Show hidden devices" four WAN Miniport adapters show up. If I choose "Update Driver Software" on any of these I can manually install the driver from the CD and then the Realtek NIC shows up, but it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

Some history: I did reassemble the power cables in the case to make some space, unplugged the motherboard etc, but I did make sure everything is plugged back in. I also resat CMOS, but I've made sure all the BIOS settings are correct.

I could really use some help, I've tried everything I can come up with and nothing works..

Does your bios give you the option of a cable check for the NIC.

Some of the latest ones, will disable the nic if no active connection can be made to save power and a faulty lan cable can cause this.

Here is the link from Gigabyte http://www.gigabyte.dk/products/pa [...] /download/ :) - did you do a complete reinstall - with format and so on?

Cable works and the function you describe, Green LAN, is disabled.
MAC-address is N/A so I assume the NIC is broken and I ordered a new one.
