Hey guys,

I have a Cisco e3000 networked with a Cisco AE1000 WLAN adapter. No matter how close I get to the router, my link speed caps out at 144Mbps even though the router is capable of 300 Mbps. Cisco support was... loathesome at best and told me that I could only achieve 300 under "ideal conditions". BS, I know that attenuation is always a concern with wireless networks but I'd expect somewhere in the 250 Mbps realistically even with heavy interference. This router is sitting all by it's lonesome on a bookshelf in my living room at least 15 feet away from the nearest source of EMI. They did confirm that the adapter is also capable of 300 Mbps, though. I've used the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, switched to nearly every channel, forced a 40 MHz channel width, increased Tx power, disabled the 2.4 GHz radio (on the off chance it was interfering), decreased the Tx power (up to 20 dBm below default), etc. The e3000 asserts that it is in fact transmitting at 300 Mbps but the ae1000 simply will not do it. Any ideas?

Thanks! :bounce:

Co-worker just told me that there may be a power savings issue on my laptop. I'm making a note here so I remember it when I get home.

I had the "same issue" (only 144mbs, etc.) with the ae1000 cisco linksys router...

I got it to 300mbs on 3 different computers by doing the following... I'll post the link as it's long...

read the "post" by "flashrob" if it gets scrambled...

it was complicated... I got it working "great" but not sure if you have to do all the stuff I did...not to hard...(just the first time, etc.)
