G-Force 310m on Asus x52j Laptop issues

Forum Graphic & Displays : Nvidia G-Force 310m on Asus x52j Laptop issues

The X52J comes with two graphics chips; one is integrated, and the the other is a nVidia 310m. Unfortunatly, I cannot use my nVidia chip. When I try to pull up the nVidia control panel to change the setting so that I use the 310m, I get a message saying "An nVidia graphics card was not detected in your system". I've also looked in the device manager and the chip isn't there either.
I have re downloaded the latest BIOS off of the ASUS website and that did fix the issue; it is, however, now back and I cannot install the driver because it says that it is already installed and there are no new drivers. I've seen several other people with this issue and so far no one has gotten it fixed.

hello, i have the same laptop, and i was recently having the same problem, so i took it to staples where i had bot it and the person who had taken a look at it went into the bios settings and found that the hybrid graphics system was turned off of windows 7/vist compatibility and turned on "other" meaning linix and XP and or other operating systems of that type. so i strongly sujest you go to staples for it or to another computer place, it is NOT the drivers, its the bios settings. i hope this works for you, it worked for me. im glad to help you and i hope this works.

I had the same problem. I fixed it myself. The thing is that bios versions above 206 do not have the display adapter mode under advanced setting and this disables the possibility to switch between integrated intel video and dual video.

First thing to do is restart the laptop and at the Asus logo press F2 key .
Check your bios version and see if you have "display adapter" setting under "Advanced" . If you do, switch to "Windows7/Vista" .
If you don't then you have a bit of work to do. Go here: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K52JC/#download and afer you select your OS go to bios and download "Version 206" . Place it on an usb stick and reboot the system, enter bios and use easy flash utility to downgrade the bios version.

The Winflash utility will not work because it sees the downgrade and does not perform it giving you a message something like: Installed version is newer than this one .
Remember: Do not unplug the usb stick and make sure you don't lose all power during bios flashing! You might get a brick on your hands.

Take care,
Hope it helps.

Hahaha, oh wow. This post is how old?
Anyway, I wish ya'll had posted earlier. I've already sent in my laptop to have the bios reset my Asus twice.
Now I feel retarded.
Have either of you have this laptop hang? Because mine was doing that the second time I sent it in.
