I have Broadcom's onboard network card on DELL's XPS running xp-home...(because I dont trust w7 to run games without causing other problems...) have been having an issued and have finally narrowed it down by a simple test if you DISABLE the Network Card... It refused to RE-ENABLE... I have downloaded a new driver... but even with that a REBOOT is required to get the card to respond. If you are having the same problems... I would do what I'm about to do, find a NETWORK card, [you know you have one somewhere in those boxes full of crap] and bios disable the onboard network card. AND BE DONE WITH IT.
