So the crossfire 6990 + 6970 WILL support 6 monitors?

Yep, you might need a couple of extra active adapters if you don't have any display port monitors. From what I see the 6990 comes with adapters, the 6970 doesn't

You want to game on all 6 monitors?

Can't beat that:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/04/28/nvidia_geforc...

So, a 6990 + a 6970 1000$

That leaves plenty of room for your other stuff.

Wow, that was a great little article. I was going to suggest three HD 6970s before I read it. I still would if noise will be an issue for the OP. Those 6990s are LOUD.

6 monitors, that's a lot of resolution. I was even thinking two 6990. :)
The OP can get a single HD 6970 for now and game on 3 of his monitors and wait for the new AMD 7 series in the summer.

There is no doubt that if you want performance capable of stopping every passer by within 10 miles, the PowerColor HD6990 is the card for you. But personally, we'll advice holding out for the non-reference models with an alternative cooler equipped.

Yeah, I can see gaming across three (landscape or portrait) or five (portrait) monitors, but how would you do six without having the crosshairs or reticule (for 1st person shooters) split between two of them?

In actuallity the monitors is to run multiple instances of some games. I know that sounds odd, but it is what it is. Also THANKS SO MUCH for the 6990 and 6970 article sounds so awesome :-)

Okay so here is my build, i am not worried about price really so i know this is over budget but here it goes.

Case: HAF 932
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

SSD: 120GB OCZ Vertex 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

HDD: 2x F3 Spinpoint 1TB in raid 1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM: 2x4GB RipJaw Series DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Mobo:p 8P67 DELUXE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

CPU:I7-2600k
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

VideoCard: 2x Radeon 6990 4GB Crossfired
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
-i plan on getting the xfx video cards

OpticalDrive: Blu-Ray Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Processor Cooler: Corsair H70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

PowerSupply: Corsair 1200W SU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I have a few questions.

First, is this power supply able to handle everything at full load?
Second, is that motherboard able to handle all of this?
Third, any better case recommendations?
I picked this case because it has a fan blowing cool air right on the video cards, a hue exhaust fan on top, and the heatsink on the processor will be unaffected by the hot air pulle out the exhaust fan. Am I right? or WAY off?

You will want a board with an NF200 chip, such as the ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution, ASUS Maximus IV Extreme, or Gigabyte P67A-UD7. These are capable of x16/x16 Crossfire (think x8 per GPU). Links are below.

Also, I think the HAF 932 should do okay. These cards will be loud and produce a lot of heat. You've got the money so you might want to think about water cooling them.

Would 16GB of RAM be beneficial here?

Okay, for $3300 i have the same build but with the ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution, 16GB RAM, and everything else the same.

To nd_hunter, The 6990's are not meant to be taken apart to put a waterblock on, and thepowercooler water cooled models arent out for awhile.

I was thinking with the back top ofthe case being a massive exhaust area and the side fan blowing cool air directly on the gpu's i shouldnt have to much of a problem. Am really wrong here? btw++++++++++ to all of you for pointing out the x8 issue with my mobo.

Anything else blatantly wrong with this build now?

Also anyone think this build with need to be seriously buffed in 4 years?

I'm not sure any reference card is *meant* to be taken apart... but, check out frozencpu.com. They have several water blocks currently available for the 6990.

No, I don't see anything wrong. In 4 years, who knows? Good luck.

I understand. Would three HD 6970s give you the performance you need? I just think you are going to need hearing protection for two 6990s

I am not sure? would the 6970 is tri cross give me the performance i need?

Plus the heat would be astronomical wouldnt it?

Yeah, I don't know at that resolution, while running multiple games. I would think the heat would be less considering there's one less GPU and 2GB less memory. Also, reference 6970s exhaust all the heat out the back of the case.

I said "at that resolution" without knowing what resolution you would be working with. Can you clue us in? Are you planning on a 6x1 (portrait) setup or a 3x2 (landscape), or something else? I'm assuming they will be 1080p monitors. IPS or TN panels?

So 6480x1920. I'm drooling, lol. I think you should post this question on the GPU section here or over on AMD's forums.
