Forum CPU & Components : NICs [Wireless adapter] Need help selecting one

Hello,

I am trying to buy a wireless adapter for my new desktop
specs: i5 2500k,
gskill sniper 1866mhz ram (running at 1600mhz, not sure why)
verizon fios internet (with the secial router they gave me).

1) First off, I need to decide between USB and PCI card. I have a zyxel usb adapter, and sometimes i get the *usb has malfunctioned* or *usb not recognized* messages. Is that usual with these adapters or is it just because i move this one around alot. It gives no problems when it is recognized though.

2) does it matter if i get the 150mbps or 300mbps adapters seeing i never get anywhere close to those speeds while browsing

3) any advice on which one to get? preferrably on Newegg or Tiger?

thank you

I have 2 computers with PCI cards and one with a USB adapter. All by Linksys. My recommendation is the PCI card wireless adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6833124342 - in daily use for the past 18 months, and very reliable. I don't even know it's there. Those are the kinds of products I like.

The USB adapter also works, but I don't expect the reliability or performance of the PCI adapter from the USB adapter.

The link I gave you is Newegg, but buy from whoever gives you the best offer.

Previously I had tried a Rosewill wireless adapter and was disappointed.
