Ok, to start, this is an older board, but this problem has been buggging me, as I wanted to upgrade my IDE drives to SATA, and use Windows 7 TRIM for an SATA SSD. I tried to switch the cables around several times, and have even tried to reset the mobo by taking the coin battery out and replacing it, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I will give that a try. Standby for an update.

Still no good. Any other ideas?

Maybe your motherboard doesn't like SSDs?

Is it the BIOS that's having a problem or is it Windows? Have you tried a Google search on your drive, maybe this is a recurring problem for it? Maybe the SSD needs a firmware update?

I am not using an SSD, (too poor to afford one,) I got it to work for around 5 minutes, when I moved to install my SATA DVD drive to install Vista, (Its all I have right now) it stopped reading both the HDD and the DVD drive.

Sorry, but I don't know what to say at this point. Is there any problem with your IDE drives? An IDE DVD/CD drive shouldn't be any slower than a SATA one. I can understand wanting to upgrade the hard drive, but I don't know why such problems would happen.

Meh, the IDE drives work fine, but one of them is 40gb, my new (old) SATA drive is 80gb, like the other IDE drive, so I was planning for a total of 160gb. I suppose its alright.

Sorry I can't help. You might be better off just replacing this computer with a new one this or next year, it's getting pretty old. Compatibility problems are likely to escalate as time goes by.

Perhaps. BTW the SATA devices started to work a few days ago. Very, very strange.

Well, hopefully they will stay working for some time.
