Good Morning all,

I just got a new set of RAM for my computer. I got the corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB). I previously was using a Mushkin redline 6GB (3x2GB). I am running Win7 ult. x64. My questions are these:

Is there a certain way I should install my 4x4? Right now i have them in dimm B1&B2 and C1&C2 I didnt put any in A for more airflow around the cpu etc. The manual doesn't show how to arrange 2x dual channel memory, or quad channel, which I don't think it technically supports.
It does show that for four DIMMs (triple channel operation) to but them in A1/A2/B1/C1. But this is not triple channel memory.
*So basically. Whats the best way to but 4x4GB into this mobo*

Also, with that being as it will be, I will have two slots open. Would it be possible to use 2 of my 2gb sticks as well?

Thanks for all the help!

(p.s. right now my computer is running and showing 16gb or ram)

So I ran CPU-Z and it is showing:
Channels # Dual
Size 16364 MBytes
NB Frequesncy 2138.1/2
and on and on...
I'm gussing this means my config is fine?

should I try sticking the other two sticks and and seeing if it works? Don't want to break anything:D

You have a triple channel motherboard and you bought dual channel ram? Your motherboard supports triple channel ram and that's why you have six ram slots , triple channel comes in either three or six ram stick sets and you bought a four set of ram sticks. Obviously it seems to be working but it's not what is intended for that motherboard. If you notice you had 6gb og the Mushkin ram which if you look at it you will see that it is triple channel ram.
At this point your guess is as good as mine as for as adding the other two sticks , it won't break anything it will either work or it won't.

But my recomendation is that you return the 16gb of dual channel ram and get a set of triple channel ram.

thanks, I didn't realize I that I should have got the triple channel. Although the board does support dual channel, I'm guessing triple channel would work better?

Like I said the computer seems to work with the ram you have in there but if it were me I would be getting the triple channel and since you just got the ram maybe you could exchange it.
The choice is yours to make and while the ram is working I don't know if it's worth it to take the chance it will continue to work and if you have the oportunity to exchange it now then you could take it and have the correct memory for that board.

Nice , that's a good choice and a good price. If you ever need more ram you could get another set and have 24gb but you would have to be doing some serious productivity to need that much ram.
