[Solved] Usb Ports not working

Hi. I booted my computer a couple days ago and my keyboard didn't work. The keyboard is fine, it functions well when connected to my laptop.

I have tried plugging the keyboard into all USB ports. I tried using the front panel USB ports. I tried connecting an extra USB hub.

I have reset the CMOS with the button on the mobo and also by removing the battery. Nothing changed.

My best guess is that whatever makes the USB ports work is toast. And being that I can't get into my computer there's no way to uninstall, reinstall, update the drivers or repair them from inside the OS.

Is there any way to make them work again? Mean looks, cussing at it, I'm willing to try anything.

Is your USB enabled in the BIOS?

Ctrl c s d was the other unlock key combination.

Try the Ctrl t n l sequence first.

What about another USB device, are they working? Like USB pen drive...

Did u use the vacuum cleaner to clean the back of the PC?

Didn't use a vacuum.

Both of my keyboards are USB. Would I need to have the drivers for a PS2 keyboard already installed? I'd go buy one.

I made the connection about the vacuum and static electricity. You're thinking of everything.

I'll go buy a PS2 keyboard when the stores open. I thought PS2s needed drivers already installed. I must have misread that. I'm excited for something to try other than just looking at the boot screen.

Solid. I'm in. Bought a USB keyboard with a PS/2 adapter (the only pseudo PS/2 keyboard in town). Just fired it up and am able to navigate and select items in the BIOS. So, now to check the BIOS settings and then see what the device manager says about my USB ports.

What you should have done to get the keyboard to work is to plug in the keyboard then go to Device manager delete any device with a yellow pling against it, remove the keyboard and then refit it.

You don't need the keyboard to do this only the mouse.

There was no USB functionality. I have 2 USB keyboards, one wireless and one wired. I have 2 wireless mice. The BIOS and windows did not recognize them or recognize that they were plugged in. There were no yellow triangles in the device manager (even after scanning for new hardware). The only device that I could use was the PS/2 keyboard.

I replaced the motherboard, all keyboards and mice work with the new board.
