Hey guys ive just brought myself some new ram, Here is a linkto the ram, now I have the ASUS M4A78LT-M LE which supports up to 8GB and 1333 ram speed without over clocking, I inserted the ram today, and took the old ones out, and now it shows i have 3.25gb, in the BIOS it shows i have 4024 or something MB and 4024 MB in the other slot, so my BIOS displays 8gb but windows displays 3.25gb.... it shows it in computer properties and in ctrl atl del performance. does this mean windows isnt using my 8GB or is it just not displaying because its confused about the new ram? can anyone help me,

Krony

Cheers
P.S also this ram should be running at 1333mhz but in CPU-Z is displays its running at DRAM feq is 440... is that incorrect also?

32 bit windows will display less than 4 gb; I would go into your bios and set the ram speed at 1333 manually. This will display as 666 in cpuz, which is normal.

No you can't use 8GB, you need 64 bit windows. Why would you even buy 32bit?

You need to manually set your rams timings, speed and voltage in bios according to the sticker on the dimm. For 1333 you would want your dram frequency to be 667.

If u will install *GB on your 32bit system, it will show only 3.25 or so, but u can use 4GB as a RAMdisc without a problem.

RAMDisk 3.5.130 RC 20 @ http://www.filehippo.com/download_ramdisk/

Or u will have to patch the kernel, to use it all on 32bit system.

Recommended is to get x64bit system.

does my CPU support 64 bit windows?

What is your Windows? OEM or Retail?

Retail has both x32 and x64 as an option.

Yeah, your CPU is x64bit, but today 99% of them are. U need to have x64bit Windows.

How much did u pay for the Windows?

I already have it ready to install, Also Nikorr, how do i increase my ram speed? i saw geekapproved said about going into bios and what not which is fine, but what Voltage and what timer? the box doesnt really tell me anything to change? i would like to run it at 1333mhz because thats the point i brought it, because its running at 440mhz at the moment which is...pointless :D

OK, be careful. Do not increase to high.

It may look like this...

NO, for 1333 you would want your dram frequency to be 667.

It is DDR - double .... so 667MHz is 1333MHz, right.

LOL that would of been horrible k cool, so if it shows the 2nd image? config DRAM freq by SPD? yep its double http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =MY-053-GS
thats my RAM
my ram is DDR3 does that mean 440mhz * 3 = 1320mhz is that correct? or is that just luck? :P
