I have a Intel Pentium D 820 and was wondering if I can install it on a newer MOBO which uses DDR3 Memory. My MOBO only supports DDR2 4 ghz and would love to get DDR3 8ghz.

I'm really looking to see if the ddr3 will work with my CPU and a new MOBO??? Or does the Pentium D 820 only work with DDR2? I would love to use DDR3 with my chipset if possible.

The Intel web site is not specific on this point so it would probably not be worth the chance. Typically it is best to give up on such old technology as any attempt at upgrade would be throwing good money after bad.
