Hello.
I'm currently working on my first build but I have some questions about memory. You see I plan on using an i5 2500K processor and Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz memory. To begin, I'd heard that the 2500K only supports 1333 mhz memory. Does this mean that if I set it to 1600 in the BIOS that I would technically be overclocking. Also, would using it at this speed void the warranty on my processor? If I set it to 1333 mhz, would it have any negative effects?
Second, I'm afraid I don't know much about RAM voltage. I plan on overclocking but perhaps not right away and I was wondering which RAM voltage would be correct. Thank you.
The 1600Mhz its fine. If is not set automatic the voltage must be 1.5V , enable XMP profile for the memory and the frequency at 1600Mhz and all will be fine. I did the same thing with mine and all is ok. If you overclock then overclock your CPU from bios just raising the multiplier.

Alright so what you guys are saying is that I should go with the 1.5v model and that running it a 1600 mhz will not void the warranty for the i5 2500k? I think I forgot to mention that the i5 says it only supports 1333 mhz ram. thank you.

So does 2600K, lol.
When u would have to RMA, tell them u run it @ 1333MHz. They hide it in the fine print and for company like Intel, ..... they suck.
Get 1600MHz and be OK with it. U can get insurance from Intel for cases like that.
