Dell 3000 with 1gb in it already works fine.

Now - 2 sticks 1st) 512 266 2100, 2nd) 512 400 3200 - -Works great, sees 1 gb total.

Tried to upgrade to 2gb, 2 identical 1gb 400 3200 stick - beeps, no boot up

Tried 512 400 3200 in one slot, 1gb 400 3200 in other - No good beeps no boot

Tried 512 266 2100 in one slot, either 1gb 400 3200 in other - Works! Sees 1.5 gb

What is the problem and what do i need to get to 2 gb?

Every vendor i have talked to says 400 3200 2x1gb should work fine. IT does not. Maybe 2x1gb 266 2100?

thanksDell 3000

Maybe the motherboard likes the 266x2100 ram sticks.

Strange, I always thought mix and match was a sure fire way to trouble but with this PC it is the only way to get it to work...

So 3200 400 should work but it does not..
