Hey guys...was hoping someone could help me figure out some config options.

I've got the following:

Intel i7 920
Asus P6X58D
4 Gig DDR3 1600
Win7
GeForce GTX 460

I'm playing Flight Simulator, so I want to get it up running as fast as possible, first w/o overclocking.

I've tried making some settings in bios, but my Ram still runs at 1000 according to the Intel tuner, but another program says 1333. Can someone assist me with where I need to change the settings, probably in bios to get the ram up to 1600mhz?

And then any suggestions for OCing

Intel doesn't recommend running the ram higher than 1333; I would drop the ram speed to 800 and try overclocking the cpu to the max. I changed my amd cpu fsb from 200 to 270, a 35% overclock without having to adjust the voltage.

Weird.....I'd like to at least get it up to 1333, wouldn't that help me out?

Also was hoping for a standard config then would think about overclocking....

But when you drop the ram speed, it increases back to near the spec when raising the cpu fsb. Cpus are tough; as long as your temp remains under 70c and the ram runs at 1333 or less, you'll have a speedy system. My ram ended up at 1080 with the overclock, but the board locked the timings at 6-6-6-18 with the overclock, which is faster than the standard 9-9-9-24. I confirmed it by setting biostar's overclock program at the maximum setting. It matched my overclock setting.
