I have received my 3rd ASUS motherboard yesterday. First was 6months ago, P8Z68-V Pro, then P8Z68 LX and now Maximus IV Gene Z. All 3 had fingerprints on them and no seals on the boxes (not even a sign that there ever was).

This last one I got yest. got my fuming. XiFi Sticker was at 30 degree angle, all wobbly, plenty of fingerprints on shiny heatsinks etc. Motherboard also looks nothing like those pictures from review. Cheap plastics and crooked soldering.

Has ASUS slipped on quality control? Do you have same complaint with your ASUS product?

Where did you buy it? From a trusty retailer?

------------------------------ Core i7 2600k, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 16GB Patriot DDR3, 2TB HD , SLI GTX 460 1GB, XFX 750W BE, 3D Vision, CM 690 II Advanced

I bought all 3 from different sources. All trusted retailers. Elara in Ireland, Scan.co.uk in GB and Dabs in GB. All boards same. Maybe I expect too much, it's just disappointing to see someone's fingerprints and crooked stickers + cheap plastic moulds.

This clearly looks like a case of a retailer issue not manufacturer. Sounds like they keep giving you products that were returned/"refubished" instead of new.

When this is happening, I ask people if they have a UPS and/orSurge Suppressors, because unstable electricity in the house could be a major factor, especially where there are strong appliances.

When they turn on the current drops for the PC and than is stable, but when the appliances are turned OFF, the current spikes up and the PC's sensitive parts may go bananas...

But to have 3 quality mobos death in short time, it may be a faulty PSU as well ...

Check what can be done, I hope I gave u some other ideas to think about.

Good luck edvinasm!

That does not sound like ASUS.

Sorry, maybe I expressed myself wrong somewhere. No, the MB are not dead. They all are working (haven't tested last one yet as I am absolutely fuming over the fingerprints and crooked sticker etc.). It's just that the boards are never shiny, there are smudges and few fingerprints around etc. Hugely disappointed.

Unfortunately not. There are few stores that operate online but goods can be picked up, however it would not be practical as I would need to take time off work to do so.
Alternatively there are few shops in town that do PC components but they are just complete rip-off. I don't fancy paying €50 for goods just to make sure they are clean. The MBs were supposed to be mint initially.

Right, I have applied for RMA refund. No way I am paying for used MB. I have also found option in RMA:
"Appears to be used"
Wonder, why would it be there on DABS website :)
Anyway, done and dusted. Lesson learned:

No electronic component new straight from the factory should arrive with smudges or fingerprints and/or in packaging that seems to be opened or tampered with. There! :D

Thanks everyone for responding so quickly.
