I have some mushkin enhanced ram timings of 5-4-4-12 1.8.2 1v
I have been looking for some more of the same but can't find it. I was wonderinng
if I could use a different type of ram with different timings I am using 4 gig right now and would
link to get 4 more. Also I'm only using two of my ram slots, so as you realize I have two two gig strips.

Though mobo manufacturers would say "No", I have mixed RAM with no ill effects. The RAM will match the speed of the 'slower' RAM. So if your new RAM is 5-5-5-12 for instance, your mushkin will slow down to match those settings.

Is that question for me? or do you want to know what ram would mix with mine as stated by scottiemedic. I would like to know too. Is it specific to mushkin or can I use different types with somewhat different timings?

Nikorr was asking you to post a link to the RAM installed in your computer.

You can mix RAM and have it work some of the time. I would recommend at least matching brands, speed and voltage. Timings can be adjusted a bit and like what Scottiemedic said the sticks will default to the slowest timings. You can also sometimes get away with mixing speeds. For example DDR2 800 mixed with DDR2 667 would probably run at 667 but the 667 sticks might not run at the higher 800 speeds.

It will be hard to find something to match what you have now. DDR2 is about twice as expensive as DDR3 because not much of it is being made at this point. Those factory overclocked sticks are not common anymore.

I asked for the RAM link, because there is so many made with same specs, so the link will eliminate the user typos in the specs sheet.

Its hard to say, if u are mixing the RAM, the best is good mobo, those are more flexible and give possibly less issues...

What mix works on 1 PC may not work on another PC. But if u don't try, u will never know.

Mostly if it does not work, its due to the voltage differences.

Thanks the information, it's great to know. I think I'm going to stick with what I have right now can't afford to spend the money to do a trial and error.
I have a great mobo Asus Formula Maximus. If you come across some forsale in your travels LOL let me know Just kiddin your probably just a bit busy around here.
