Not my first system assembly. Initially had problems installing Windows 7, did some research online, all roads pointed to running Memtest86.

Disconnected all USB devices except kb and mouse. Ran Memtest from a USB drive, memory (1 stick at 4gig) wouldn't even get past test 1 without accumulating a significant number of errors (results were solid red).

Cleared CMOS, went in to Bios to check settings. Set OC profile to XMP which pulled the correct settings as listed on the memory module. Re-ran Memtest, same results.

Swapped 1st module with 2nd, same results on test. Attempted to move module around to each slot, same results.

My question is, should I RMA the memory or the motherboard? I don't have another board or other DDR3 memory to test (this was an upgrade from my years old system). I looked around, some people are having success with the moboard/memory configuration, others not so much. Would appreciate any feedback.

Asus motherboards are verry sensitive with some types of RAM's. The Corsair are more tolerated.

Agree that I need to test different memory, but could there be a problem with my motherboard that would cause both sticks of memory to fail at the same place in the test in all the slots? I have a new stick of Corsair coming, but I find it hard to believe that both sticks are bad and would fail the same way.
