my tecra 9000 does not start. no POST .power comes on all led lights come on. no further action. i do not have schematic circuit diagram for the mother board. how do i identify the bios chip?
Here you can get the exact manual ....
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index. [...] Tecra+9000 You'll be able to Identify it , it'll be mounted on a Jack, everything else on the mobo of the laptop will be soldered onto it, except the BIOS chip, it'll be mounted into a jack that will be soldered onto the board.

this shows how to remove things and assemble back. i have removed the mobo but i still cannot find any jack you are telling about. can you please explain little more to the location of the jack/bios or better the ic chip number if you can please
thanks for reply
is it on the top mobo[power supply or bottom mobo [cpu]

thank you very much. i will make voltage measurements and try to recover the bios
i have made a cd with the bios file iso.
right now it does not look at the cdrom except the green led is on steady.
i hope i will be able to make it work.
will get back here with result in a day or two.
really it is a great help you have done now
thanks again.
TMP87PM48U-datasheet
it is the ic shown in the position of the bios
the voltages reading in the board does not correspond to datasheet
the cmos battery lead does not reach there .
short of schematics of the mobo i am now tracing connections of 3v bat to the chip to make sure it is the chip we should look for.
there is a 5V coming in on pin 1
still more checking is to be done
will get back here soon
any thought on the schematic of this mobo or the chip connection details?
by the way i did not find a way to edit the image page so it need to show only the pin assignment of the chip
a X tal is connected across pin 1 and 2
seems it is being used as MCU mode
will check further how it is used as eprom
