this is the problem. I got to fix a Emachine with Windows XP. It got a virus but finally got everything working except this. The C drive system and the H drive boot. Everything is saving in the h drive which is the recovery partition and not in the c drive. There is no more room in the recovery partition now due to this. When going to the cmd prompt you go to h drive instead of c drive. I need assistance. Any ideas what I need to do to finish fixing this computer.

Was XP reinstalled? If you say H is the boot drive then naturally xp will save files there. Check and see if C has any boot info in the root such as boot bak etc. YOu have to unhide system files and show all files in folder options VIEW. let us know what is on the C drive as far as folders(ie: documents and settings, program files, and windows folders). Then we can see what we are working with better.
