The boards are

ASRock 770 extereme 3

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157195

Asus M4A78Lt-M

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131672

This has a Amd Phenom II x4 955 C2 stepping and i believe the Processor might be shorting out these boards i don't understand why they would both break so soon. Also his ASRock one worked with this Processor for about 6 months. We already know the Ram/Graphics card/PSU is fine. We tested these parts and they work. And i also tested his(not my PC it's my friend) processor in my sabertooth and it worked also. But i'm not letting it in their for to long.

Also note that either of these boards will post.

So is their anyway his CPU is shorting out these boards are is it just bad luck?

Also his CPU was always running under the right temps.

what other same components used in these units, did all the hardware carry over and plugged into both boards
making the set-up identical except for the motherboard.
RAM/GPU/PSU have been used in both.?

Yeah we used a Asus 6850(my old card still works perfect!) A Antec Earthwatts 500 watt PSU. 8GB Of DDR3 1600 ram(which works great i tired it in my board) All i know is my friend is mad since he has no extra boards.

But all the parts went into the board perfectly.

I don't have a PSU tester but can it be that shorting out the boards? He played deus ex and sims 3 and it worked, the day before.

is the 955 C2 running stock or is it clocked and what was it before, clocked or stock.?

Well on the asrock it was overclocked at 3.7Ghz stable with nice temps 52C and below with about 25-35C on idle. But on the Asus we just got(which was his old board) we never OC it. It was on stock Voltage and Clock.

and now both boards are bad but all hardware works from both, just the boards are bad.?
(just making sure I fully understand)

and now the chip that was in both boards that went bad is now in your board, number 3.?

No, His cpu worked fine in my board we just wanted to see if its the Cpu or board. I'm using the Amd Phenom II x6. I think it could be his psu shorting out his board. But yeah both boards are broke. But all the parts are fine but we don't have a PSU tester but we know it works fine. But i'm not gonna risk it on my PC. We just want to know if its possible it could be his Phenom i never heard of a Processor shorting out a board but its that or the PSU.

OK, I understand, let me see what I can find.
so now where is this chip that possibly shorted out these two boards.?

you contradicted yourself.
seems like you need another board and test out that PSU for real.
I'm researching the topic.

Yeah that seems like the best bet. I don't understand how the processor could short out a board.

Were you wearing your static wrist strap?

As always plus his Asus lasted for about 2 days after we got it together.

Reply to jdwii

The effects of static discharge on electronics, can have a delayed effect.

Lol just decided to give you the points, But we found out his PSU was under-powering his boards.
