What GFX Cards can i put in my MSI P965 Platinum?

Forum Motherboards & Memory : MSI-Microstar What GFX Cards can i put in my MSI P965 Platinum?

Hello,
My trusty old gfx card has died. It was a Gainward 8800GTS 320mg, and fell foul of the apparently common solder issue. It's way out of warranty now, so i need a new card. I can't afford a full upgrade, so i need to find a card that will run on my MSI P965 Platinum motherboard. The 3 cards that i'm considering are the ATI 6790, the 6850, and most of all the 6870. Will they all work or will I have issues due to it being an ATI card on an SLI-focused motherboard? I've read that the MSI P965 has some issues with pci-e 2.1 cards, but i can't find anything definite.

My hardware specs are:
P965 Platinum, Intel E6600, 4 sticks of Corsair xms2 800mhz DDR2 ram, Corsair HX620W PSU. I'm running win xp sp2 but can easily swap to win7 if required.

Thank you very much for any help that you can provide.

You can put any PCIE video card. If you don't play on fullhd monitor 6790.

Thanks for the reply. I've read people reporting that the P965 Platinum has issues with some pci-e 2.1 cards, so was wondering if anyone here knew more about it.
