Hi. I am novice at computer retair. I have an old Compaq Presario which won't boot up. It keeps rebooting itself but won't go to dekstop. I did hardrive check and it failed. I am buying new computer now but is there anyway I can get it open enough to retrieve my documents. My backup is a couple weeks old. Thanks for your help.

Yes, this thread should be moved to the HDD section,

anyways, when a hard drive fails, it fails, it's read head broke, it's motor died, the master file table may be corrupt, lots of types of fail, if you have important info on it, you have to send it to a data recovery company, it may be expensive to get your data recovered.
